The Cottonwood Cemetery Vortex
Listed as #2 in the top “10 Disturbing Cemeteries In Arizona That Will Give You Goosebumps” the Cottonwood Cemetery located at 599 North Main Street in Cottonwood, Arizona says on the front gate it was created back in 1878. For some mysterious reason, the Verde Valley according to historical records and to some of the old-timers still around in the area, the site was “racially divided” clear back in the early days of development so much so even the Cottonwood Cemetery was said to be split down the middle by a road separating the races/classes. Anyone taking a walk around the place may clearly ascertain this obvious fact by looking at the tombstones.
Sometime in the early 1950s, a local Cemetery Committee bridged a gap between the two sides dedicating a specific parcel of land in the cemetery that would be known as the “Veteran’s plot” and gave the right to burial “to all and only” honorably discharged veteran’s of the armed services of the United States.
Symbolic Boundary of Cemeteries
For centuries, people have been mesmerized by the spectacular tales of the legendary magic of Witches/Warlocks/Wizards. These types of magic-folk are not common around the world, only particularly picking vortex energy towns or cities to reside in, therefore, having these types of residents is clearly a sign something arcane is present warranting these types of visitors. As is well known the area has been attracting those who work in what has been deemed supernatural for some time since the 1980s.
According to the legends Wizards speak of when gathered together telling wild tales of their adventures it is spoken while in the right mindset under the full moon there are times and places where powerful magic exists used specifically as a vortex/portal/gateway between realms. These otherworldly patrons are a form of spellcasters who are said to of learned the art of arcane magic through research, learning, and application passed down from those who have traveled down the path. One of the most academic of all arcane traditions is “Loremaster Magic” an arcane tradition fixated on understanding the underlying mechanics of ancient magic passed down through folklore.
According to legend, some Witch/Warlocks/Wizards trek into cemeteries specifically to retrieve ritual ingredients to work their magic spells while others poke around in old graveyards often associated with curses, hexes, secrecy, death, or to get in touch with their spiritual nature. Traditionally, burial places are a place to communicate with spirits for a good reason:
“Cemeteries are where spirits go to be heard because they’re the places where the living go to listen.”
Cemeteries/graveyards are a symbolic boundary between the world of the living and “the underworld.” As witchcraft/magic has become more mainstream, many cemeteries have offered special occult-themed tours because they often contain gateways to the supernatural.
“These gateways/vortexes/portals are not known to common folk, nor the ability to operate or enter through them.”
At these gateways are powerful guardians who watch night and day. The public government maintains the place in the daytime than at dusk there are those who are said protect the opening at night by those left trusted by those who built this veil between realms.
“There are those who protect the entrances from going in and out on both sides above and below.”
However, a couple of gravestones, in particular, one is marked “1945” stand out like no others where remarkably two trees have grown roots deep down over the years indicating they were perhaps planted around at the time numerous souls were placed to rest in the vicinity. If the aphorism phrase, “as above, so below” were to truly bring forth meaning, in this case, the two trees remarkably form a “living vortex” above ground through which a visible doorway is not only seen but according to legend opens up to otherworldly places at a said time to those who know the charm.
“In essence, there is a living vortex above ground expressed by nature in the two trees where surely the roots have also formed the same below ground.”
According to legend, only on a specific Sabbath when the moon is full led only by twilight under certain conditions the guardian of this gateway will safely guide those deemed worthy through the maze around and over that which must be kept untouched. When looking around this magical place there are indeed open and hidden dangers to be found... Some natural, some spiritual, and others physical like the groundskeepers and public.
“A strick warning must be given to all who would dare disturb those who rest in peace at this sacred place. 'Do not disturb!' To do so without the magical protection and working of those who created and protect this vortex/gateway is to bring the curse of those at rest at the location and more.”
Crosses, Statues of Jesus, Saints, and even Angels are found at specific areas around the two trees by and on top of tombstones giving warning to all who would look therein or around needlessly.
According to one of the Wizards who helped build this gateway who lives close by one of the main secrets to traveling through this gateway:
“Once the ritual is performed and a person is guided through the gateway in real life they are then to return in the Astral Body where they will be able to safely pass through to the above or below.”
Revealing this secret place is only useful to those who would not only dare seek out such a gateway but also understands this is just another piece of a much larger puzzle of composing a broader picture of what makes up the Verde Valley.
“It has always been vortex lore a person while in the right mind and body can step through a vortex and be instantly transported to any other vortex location.”
Some vortex locations, like the one found at the Cottonwood Cemetery, are no doubt considered special having roots that not only go deep down into the sacred ground of the underworld but also to the land of the living. The significance is unquestionable to those who have the necessary eyes to see.
